It will feel like stand-alone chapters with an almost identical form of storytelling. In all, the story is funny but not really developed or solid in any way. The story was making fun of this cliché most manga have become quite repetitive of (thus feeling boring for the same reason), so seeing it being ridiculed is hilarious for a veteran reader like myself. Here we have someone who fails miserably at it but is quite good at being bad! If that is not funny, I don’t know what is.
DMC 5 MANGA SERIES
I mean most series have some perky youth with high ideals that struggles to accomplish his dreams (i.e. I almost doubt it would be as funny if it were done any better.Ī polite, kind youngster turning into a make-belief Kind of Demons against his will and becoming the exact opposite of what he always wanted to be was more than I could bear without laughing for several minutes. So, movements and proportions suffer big time but at the same time they give of a feeling of an anarchistic underground comic. Looking so gentle to a point of passing like nerds and mama’s boys or freaked out to resemble mass-murderers was enough to make the To be honest, the thing that matters the most are the spaced out grimaces the characters make. Since it is a comedy not based on slapstick movements, it goes well with the territory. If it was a title where graphics play an outmost importance this would be a major minus. It is hilarious, no matter how crude the characters look or move. (just for the record, this is a slight alteration of my anime review) A complete delusion.Īrt is old but some panels are very well drawn.Ĭharacters are very bad especially the MC. I had so much hope for this but all for nothing. I feel like they are even better than the manga in delivering the comedy.Īfter a while you are also going to feel bad for the other characters that did nothing wrong but are often bullied by the mc because he is weak as hell and can compete only towards someone weaker than him. Less time consuming and pretty much the same. If you want just some laugh you can give it a try but if you want any story development/progress there is none. The first two volume in and you already know what are all the gags that are going to be used. It is funny even though the humor is very repetitive so after a while the only good aspect also vanishes. The mc is exactly the same from the first episode to the last. Nothing ever changes in the story there is no character development and there is no story progress. It had potential but the stupidity of the mc ruined everything. If you don't like at least one you're probably not going to have a good time reading this manga. The only reason I enjoyed this so much was because I'm a fan of both metal music and dark humor. Side and socially accepted side was the main character portrayal in this manga. The main characters constant struggle between his dark It's main story revolving around my favorite genre of music (metal) would be enough to keep my interest all the way through, but it's constant humor (dark humor is most predominant) made me want to read this story all the way through.Īntics involving The band DMC (mostly their singer) and the die-hard fans kept me turning the pages. These were the only words i could think when I came to the final page of the last volume of Detroit Metal City.
